Simon Rohrer Mirror

A large, circular sorcerer's mirror made by Simon Rohrer of Liverpool around 1870.  Twenty two reverse ground optics create the illusion of a compound reflection. The frame with distressed original gilding. 46cm/18" in diameter. Rohrer was a German immigrant who came to England in 1852 as a glass manufacturer who developed his business into a "carver and gilder and pier glass manufacturer and a wholesale agent for English and foreign polished and silvered plate glass."
